Sebastian Herkner live at Mister Design
He may absolutely be called one of the leading designers of today, 38 year old Sebastian Herkner from Germany. This year at Maison & Object Paris he was awarded Designer of the Year 2019. His work varies from furniture to accessoires and from objects to interior. Last Thursday Sebastian Herkner gave a presentation at the beautiful showroom of MisterDesign and shared with us his inspiration and thought process behind some of his most iconic pieces. MisterDesign arranged a special display in their showroom that showcases a lot of Herkners designs. All the more reasons to visit MisterDesign the upcoming months!
Sebastian Herkner studied Product Design at the University of Art and Design in the German city Offenbach and started his own studio in 2006. Since that time he rapidly became one of the most respected designers of his generation. His breakthrough was the design of the Bell table adopted by German brand ClassiCon.
Many designs would follow; like the Oda light for Pulpo, the Ames collection and recently the 118 chair for Thonet. Also the complete series of Embrace for Dedon are from his hand. The authentic designs of Herkner are diverse and come forth from an unconditional love for traditional craftsmanship and an unlimited genuine interest in different cultures. Herkner combines both with his interest in new technologies, his love for colors, authentic materials and textures. The result is a surprisingly stunning collection of beautiful designs with great variations for different brands (©MisterDesign).
A big thank you to MisterDesign for inviting me for the event, had a lot of fun listening to the presentation and catching up with some fellow bloggers!
(and off course peek through the windows to see the workspace of CorUnum, also worth to pay a visit when your at MisterDesign)
